March 8th is the day and Actiongirls is ready to celebrate. We're having a party! Time will be from 12-3 and location will be confirmed in the next day or two so be sure to check back for the details. There will be food and everyone will have a chance to make a really cool takehome so don't miss out. Everyone will also have an opportunity to contribute to a large creation (another surprise) so if you're looking to find your voice this is going to be a great place to start.

Have you seen the "MISSING" posters up around campus and the downtown? They're not real. These women are not really missing. This poster was put up as promotion for a band's video release party. It's available on their site but I couldn't watch the whole thing - it made me want to throw up. It starts with a woman with tape over her mouth, then a woman is attacked, and dragged off against her will, kicking and screaming. That was enough for me. This isn't cool, it isn't funny, it isn't a joke.
Women do go missing. Traffic in women is a reality in our city. We're putting together an awareness and action campaign. If you want to get involved, meet in CHS 254 on Wednesday at 11:30 or send an email.
A woman-positive spectacle!
Come enjoy art, theatre, music, dance, poetry and chocolate (yes, chocolate!) this Saturday, January 28th in the CAW Student Centre Atrium. This is a public event, open to all! Cost is by donation, showtime is 7:00pm.
All submissions are original works based on the theme "The Female Body @ Work."
For further information, feel free to send an email or visit our booth in the CAW Centre on Friday, January 27th just to say hello or to purchase our homemade "female" chocolates.

We're trying.
It's January and some of us are feeling pretty crummy. The gloomy, cold weather and all that holiday relaxing has left some of us feeling low in energy and unmotivated. It's Sally's idea to "get healthy" so we're going to take advantage of that new fitness centre *whose cost is built into the tuition we're already paying*! We're heading en masse to take over the Forge so none of use feels any pressure to look good while getting sweaty! So far there's no regular time set but we're planning on bringing a crowd to Friday's Body Sculpt class at noon and then Monday I think there will be a few of us at the Cardio-Latin-Salsa class.
Come to a brainstorming session Friday November 11 at 12:30 in the Sunset Cafe Bar.
We are still looking for content for the performance spectacle to be presented in January 2006.
Poetry, monologues, dance, music, visual art, photography, projections, sculpture, short scenes - you name it - we're looking for it all.
Either write something yourself and submit it to actiongirls at femilicious dot com or come and help brainstorm ideas and we'll help find someone else to put it together.
Artists have the option of performing their own work or having it presented by another performer. Pieces can also be submitted and presented anonymously.
Today, Friday October 28, 2005, is the day! Tara McKee will begin her presentation at 2 p.m. upstairs at the Sunset Cafe Bar.
Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for non-students.
In order to create a safe and comfortable environment for discussing this topic, the workshop is open to women and trans only.
Come learn about sex: toys, orgasms, anatomy, and empowerment between the sheets - and if you're in the market for some new playthings then that will be available too.

Topic is in conjunction with the university's Alcohol Awareness Week:

Hopefully the posters promoting the theatre project will be ready and maaaaybe we'll even have tickets for the sexuality seminar.
