I have witnessed this 'grit" also. I think the university should do a better job on the air filtration system....the air intake vents in some classrooms are completely blocked with dust and the air return vents are black. Take a look at the vents in the ceiling of the Psychology halls. The first time I saw this I was so embarassed ......for the people who are forced to work in these dirty areas and for students visiting the university.....how unattractive. My advisor's office was in Dillon Hall and her desk was coated daily with the 'grit' too. The air vents are also black there. This is totally unacceptable......people have to breathe this stuff into their lungs....and they are INSIDE. Immagine how bad it is outside. I live in the county where the air is much cleaner than in Windsor. I really don't know how you Windsor people survive breathing all this stuff every day.

Well, you're luckier than I am. ;)

I have a west-facing window -- maybe windows facing other directions aren't as bad. I didn't need to wipe down before working today, probably because my window stayed closed yesterday. I still love my space, just wish Windsor air was better. I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment.

about the grit in general: I know I'm not the only one noticing it -- my neighbours, as well as friends in LaSalle, have commented on this layer of grey dust that covers anything that sits outdoors (like tables) for any length of time.
